Real Betis Balompié has joined forces with UNICEF Spain to launch the solidarity campaign 'El Betis hace escuela'. Driven by the Real Betis Foundation, the initiative aims to collect 8,000 basic school kits for children facing educational barriers.
Antonio Borrego, from the foundation, outlined the project's goal. "The Real Betis Foundation has launched a new project hand in hand with UNICEF Spain," Borrego said. "It is 'El Betis hace escuela', a campaign that unites football and solidarity with the aim of facilitating access to education and mobilising the entire verdiblanca community".
Each school kit contains basic supplies like notebooks, pencils, and backpacks. The campaign seeks to mobilise the Betis fanbase against a global backdrop where, according to 2024 data, 273 million young people were out of school. Potential cuts to education funding could leave a further six million children without schooling by 2026.
First-team support
The initiative has the active backing of first-team figures including Joaquín Sánchez, Pablo Fornals, and Marc Bartra. Their involvement aims to amplify the message of solidarity beyond the pitch.
This social commitment comes during a positive sporting period for the team.
