The president of the Royal Andalusian Football Federation, Pedro Curtido, has suggested that Real Betis Balompié and their arch-rivals Sevilla FC could share the La Cartuja stadium as a temporary home. The statement comes as the Verdiblancos play their second consecutive season at the Olympic venue due to renovation works at their historic Heliópolis ground.
Curtido made these remarks in an interview, highlighting La Cartuja's 72,000 capacity, which places it among Spain's top three stadiums. "It could be Sevilla's stadium or Betis's, why not both?" the federation chief stated. He then clarified that "it is not a decision that falls to me," making clear the final call rests with the clubs and relevant institutions.

The possibility of ground-sharing has been a recurring topic in recent months, as Sevilla FC also plans redevelopment work at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. Sevilla president José María Del Nido Carrasco had already expressed interest. "The idea we had was to play at the La Cartuja stadium," he acknowledged during his last public appearance.
From Betis's side, president Ángel Haro had been far more sceptical about such an overlap. In comments made last July, Haro noted that while he understood their neighbours' situation, Betis had their own roadmap marked out. "The stadium is there and when we leave it they will be able to enjoy it and will have to pay a rent like ours, I suppose," the Bético chief stated at the time.
