The Federation of Associations of Consumers and Users of Andalusia (Facua) has denounced the poor visibility in seats for reduced mobility at the Cartuja Stadium, where Real Betis Balompié plays. The organization claims that the club should take measures to allow these followers to enjoy the matches in equal and comfortable conditions.

From Facua, they explain that several followers with reduced mobility have reported that when the fans in the front rows stand up - a common gesture in occasions of goal or exciting plays - their vision of the field is affected, sometimes losing it completely.

An affected follower stated that in October, he informed the club about the problem and the response was that, since La Cartuja is not owned by Real Betis, they could not intervene. Facua recalls that the members contracted their subscriptions with the club and not with the stadium's responsible, so they ask Real Betis to have an active role and manage solutions for these followers.

The federation sustains that a location from which only the field can be seen while the people in front are seated is not suitable, since the impossibility of standing up implies a disadvantage for people with reduced mobility.
The Real Decreto Legislativo 1/2013
The Real Decreto Legislativo 1/2013, of November 29, defines in its article 2.d) that indirect discrimination exists when practices or environments that appear to be neutral generate specific disadvantages for people with disabilities, without a legitimate justification. In this framework, Facua demands that Real Betis does not limit itself to responding to individual cases, but rather reviews the situation of all its followers with reduced mobility in La Cartuja immediately, considering that the 2026/2027 season is about to begin.
Real Betis' response
The organization urges the club to offer alternative locations that allow enjoying the matches in conditions similar to those of the Benito Villamarín, since the temporary change to the new stadium should not imply a worsening of the experience for these followers. Currently, Real Betis Balompié is in 5th position in the League, with 45 goals in favor and 38 against (+7 difference), and is 33 points behind the leaders of the competition.
