The season concluded with a particularly painful outcome for Betis Deportivo. The white and green filial consumed their descent to Segunda RFEF in the last match after conceding a goal in the added time against Cartagena at the Cartagonova stadium, a result that left them out of the permanence by a point. However, several weeks after the competition ended, an extradeportive situation keeps a minimum hope open in Heliópolis. Cartagena is going through a severe economic crisis and faces a possible administrative descent if it does not settle a debt before June 30. The entire members of the first team and the filial have presented denuncias to the Association of Spanish Footballers (AFE) for the non-payment of several monthly payments corresponding to the recently ended course. In total, according to different information from Murcia, 44 footballers are affected by a debt that rounds the half million euros. The federative norm (article 15 of the RFEF regulation) contemplates that a team can lose the category for economic defaults if it does not settle the situation within the established deadlines. In case of this scenario, the main beneficiary would be Betis Deportivo. The vacant place would correspond to the best classified team among the descended. That condition is met by the filial, which finished the season in 16th position with 45 points. Sources from the white and green club consulted by this medium assure that no formal consultation has been made to the RFEF about this possibility, although they understand that that hypothetical place would correspond to the filial. The situation of the albinegro team goes beyond the payments to the players. To the denuncias of the first team and the filial, the claims of former players who left the entity during the past winter market, as well as several members of the technical staff, are added. Also pending are amounts corresponding to youth coaches, members of the previous sports structure and various suppliers. All this is added to economic commitments with the Treasury and the Social Security. Cartagena drags a global debt of around 14 million euros, a figure that has placed the entity in a very compromised situation. The new president of the Murcian club, Alejandro Arribas, is working to find solutions that avoid greater sports consequences. The entity has several alternatives to resolve the conflict: paying the pending amounts or reaching agreements with the claimants that allow withdrawing the denuncias through payment calendars agreed upon. Arribas plans to appear publicly in the coming days to explain the real state of the accounts and detail the measures he intends to take. Meanwhile, from the entity, the evolution of the case is being followed with caution. Although it is a relevant amount, it is not excessive (500,000 euros).
