Irish forward Troy Parrott is the main new addition in Real Betis’ squad for the LaLiga first-day match against Valencia CF, scheduled for 25 August at Mestalla. Manager Manuel Pellegrini has named Parrott among 23 players, together with new goalkeeper Álvaro de Pablo and other starters.
Parrott, the new arrival
Parrott trained all weekend and also this Monday with the team without any issues, and he is expected to play his first minutes with the green-white kit. His inclusion comes after his departure from the English club and his recent experience in the Premier League.
Third goalkeeper
For the trip to the capital of the Turia, Betis has decided to travel with a third goalkeeper, as has been customary in away matches since Pellegrini took charge. Álvaro de Pablo, a goalkeeper that Valladolid has loaned to Betis Deportivo to integrate into the B team, will serve as the third keeper for the first team during Diego Conde’s injury.
Full squad
The list of 23 players is: Valles, Manu González, Álvaro de Pablo, Bellerín, Ortiz, Bartra, Natan, Diego Llorente, Valentín Gómez, Fran García, Junior Firpo, Marc Roca, Facundo Bernal, Fornals, Deossa, Fidalgo, Isco, Iker Losada, Antony, Pablo García, Riquelme, Parrott and Cucho Hernández. The following players are absent: Diego Conde, Aitor, Lo Celso and Petit. Players whose future is uncertain, especially Iker Losada, but also Pablo García or Deossa, remain in the squad list.
Betis will depart for Mestalla at 18:45, with the match scheduled for 21:00. The squad selection reflects Pellegrini’s confidence in the new generation of players and the commitment to continuity in the roster.
