Diego Conde presented as Real Betis Balompié’s new goalkeeper

Real Betis Balompié has officially announced the arrival of Diego Conde as its new goalkeeper. The 27-year-old, loaned from Villarreal until June 2027, joins the team to strengthen the goalkeeping position following Pau López’s departure to Andorra. Conde will debut with a squad that finished the 2024-25 season in fifth place in La Liga with 60 points (15 wins, 15 draws, and 8 losses).

What did the goalkeeper say about his arrival?

During his presentation, Conde expressed his excitement about joining Real Betis Balompié: «From the first moment, you experience the magnitude of a club like Betis at a social, sporting, and institutional level. I’m living this with a lot of emotion». He also highlighted the support of his teammates: «I’ve felt very backed by the entire squad. They try to involve you from the start as if you’ve been there for a long time».

How was his debut with the team?

Conde already had his first experience with the team in the Trofeo Colombino, where he played the second half of the match. After a nearly blank season with Villarreal, the goalkeeper aims to redeem himself at La Cartuja and regain the form he showed in the first half of the 2024-25 season.

What does this mean for Betis?

Conde’s arrival strengthens the competition in goal alongside Álvaro Valles and Manu González. With the team in good form (WLWDW in its last five games of the previous season), Betis aims to maintain its level in the upcoming campaign, where it will seek to close the 34-point gap with league leader Barcelona.
