Cucho Hernández returns to Betis after World Cup

Colombian forward Cucho Hernández has rejoined Real Betis Balompié training this Monday after his World Cup stint with Colombia, where his team was eliminated by Switzerland in the round of 16 on July 7. With his return, only Giovani Lo Celso remains to complete the squad, as he participated with Argentina until the final lost to Spain on July 19 and is expected to join the team on August 10.

What happened in training?

In the morning session, Isco, Antony, and Diego Llorente participated normally, with the latter recovered from the muscle fatigue that affected him in the friendly against UD Almería last Saturday. Aitor Ruibal and Abde continue with their specific training plans, while Diego Conde remains sidelined due to the shoulder dislocation suffered in the match against Granada, with a prognosis of at least one month out.

What is Betis' current status?

The team, which finished the 2025 season in 5th place in La Liga with 46 points (11 wins, 13 draws, and 7 losses in 31 games), is preparing for the new campaign. With 45 goals scored and 38 conceded, Betis aims to improve its performance and reduce the 33-point gap that separated it from leader Barcelona. The preseason continues with a training camp in Dublin, where youth players like Morante, Gnangoro Bouaré, Rica, and Corralejo, along with Manu González, Ángel Ortiz, and Pablo García, will also travel.
