Real Betis Balompié will play this season under a squad cost limit set by LaLiga at 142.847 million euros, more than 20 million above the 122.1 million cap it had last term, a figure that places the club fifth in Primera División's economic ranking, behind only Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Villarreal.
The jump is largely tied to the club's return to European competition. Javier Tebas, the president of LaLiga, told reporters that the margin granted to Real Betis is calculated from the average spending of Spanish clubs that have played the Champions League in recent seasons. "The limit Betis has for entering the Champions League is the average of the teams that have entered in recent years." Tebas said.
That extra room lets the club absorb the cost of a strengthened squad, including Dani Ceballos and Troy Parrott, whose transfer was completed for 16 million euros fixed plus a further four million in variables. Real Betis had not played the Champions League since the 2005-06 season, and that competitive leap translates directly into a bigger available budget.

Real Betis is expected to beat both marks given its recent European run, and the margin would grow further if the team finishes among the top 24 and advances further in the knockout stage.
